Vitra, the Swiss furniture manufacturer, decided to complement their exhibits with Minimalux at this years Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Products were displayed alongside classic designs by Charles & Ray Eames, Antonio Citterio and Jasper Morrison.

Those chosen included our large Copper Conical Vase, and our Dish60 (rose) & Dish120 (ruby).

Minimalux has launched its first writing instrument. Ballpoint was presented and made available for immediate purchase from the Minimalux online store on Friday November 11th at 09:00 hrs.

The basic ballpoint pen, or ‘Biro’ as it has become known, has been a useful accessory to our daily lives for many years. Its familiar, cheap plastic casing is synonymous with the product but also its disposability. Minimalux now takes this ingenious and ubiquitous invention and encases it in a single fluid sleeve of lasting, almost indestructible, solid brass.

Ballpoint utilises a very simple, replaceable refill but has a casing that is permanent. Designed ergonomically, with careful consideration to weight and balance, it delivers a smooth and fluid line with very little applied pressure – transforming the performance of the humble refill and providing an effortless and noteworthy writing experience.

When not in use it will stand stable and upright – ready and waiting for its next task!

Ballpoint is not plated or lacquered in any way, thus allowing its surface finish to change with use and age – eventually developing a rich natural patina and becoming uniquely personal to its owner. It is available with either black or blue ink and priced at £75.

Minimalux launched its first lighting product during this years London Design Festival.

Bulb was made available for immediate purchase from the Minimalux online store on Friday, September 23rd at 09:00 hrs.

As the name suggests this new table lamp pays homage to the shape and materiality of the familiar, but soon to be obsolete, incandescent light bulb.

The lamp is fully compliant with a varied and fast changing array of energy saving light bulbs, whilst housing them in a form that subtly reminds us of their heritage and evolution.

Bulb is made from hand blown opal glass with a machined brass stem and cable entry.

It comes equipped with an energy efficient, compact fluorescent light source providing 10,000 hours of life.

Offered with or without dimmer it is priced from £185 – £235.

As a preview to the online release of the product there was also an opportunity to view Bulb at the 1901 bar of the Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel from Monday Sept 19th until Sunday Sept 25th – 1901 | Andaz Hotel, 40 Liverpool Street, London EC2M 7QN

The classic interior of 1901 provided an appropriate context for this new Minimalux  table lamp.

From the dawn of the 20th Century, light bulbs have been a familiar feature of our living and working environments.

The 1901 bar was completed in the year of its name – a lifespan shared by the iconic Bulb that Minimalux has chosen to pay homage to.

Houston based Peel Gallery exhibited a comprehensive selection of Minimalux products at their beautiful space on Montrose Boulevard from May 6th – June 4th.

It featured over 20 Minimalux products from Collections 1 & 2 including new items and finishes making their US debut at PEEL.
