Description

NIL is a strikingly simple family of lights. The name speaks for itself in expressing the circular (O) nature of the globe and also in defining a design which is so minimal it is almost nothing. Reduced to the most basic graphic elements NIL is akin to a moon on a stick, as if a child had drawn it that way.

The NIL suspension lamp, in its most basic format, is presented in matt white; unifying the stem and matt etched glass globe to provide a clear seamless silhouette, complemented by a white braided flex cable and solid brass detailing. Other finishes include matt textured black and brushed aluminium. The globe bulb itself offers smooth dimming from 2000-2800k when connected to a wall mounted dimmer switch.

Care

The powder coated finish of these lamps is robust and requires little maintenance. The brushed aluminium finish is natural and untreated. It will gently oxidise over time and will occasionally pick up finger marks when handled, helping to develop a unique patina. An easy and simple solution to cleaning the surface is by using a rubbing alcohol. Make sure the lamp is switched off and the plug disconnected, then simply add a few drops of the rubbing alcohol to a soft microfibre cloth and gently rub away any marks, always in the direction of the grain. Alternatively mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid with warm water and use that instead, wiping away any remaining moisture with a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on aluminium as they will cause damage to the surface.
